Rovi service links with cloud
UltraViolet could soon get yourself a nice marketing push from Rovi since it looks to enhance utilization of digital locker. Santa Clara, Calif.-based Rovi used CES to unveil its Digital Copy Solution, a thing that will enable clients to change Digital video disks and Blu-ray dvd disks into digital collections that they may access within the cloud with items registered through UltraViolet. Rovi's copy technology will probably be built-into electronic products items and PC programs throughout the initial quarter of the season, enabling those to recognize a movie on physical disc, authenticate its origin and grant utilization of a replica within the UltraViolet Digital Library. Digital copies will then be carried out through Internet-connected items including HDTVs, Blu-ray Disc players, set-top boxes, video game titles, cell phones, pills and Computer systems. About 196 million clients are expected to take advantage from the cloud-based service by 2016. "Clients desire to watch free movies online anywhere, while still getting value within the investment they have created in physical media," mentioned Corey Ferengul, executive V . p . of products at Rovi.
